Build Solar designed solar blocks that can be installed into buildings like glass panels to provide power, light and insulation
Build Solar, a solar company based in the United Kingdom, was created by researchers from the Environment and Sustainability Institute at the University of Exeter. The company’s leading product is called Solar Squared, a glass block covered in solar panels that can be integrated into a building’s architecture like a traditional glass panel.
By having them placed directly into a building, Solar Squared provides power, lighting and insulation for the structure and lower the overall cost that other devices use. The blocks have a tint to prevent rooms from overheating and come in an array of colors and patterns.
Build Solar hopes to find large buildings in which to install Solar Squared to demonstrate the product’s technology.
